A Passionate Performer

Music has the power to transport us to another time and place. James Jared Taylor Music loves to harness that power with a broad audience of fellow music lovers and passionate musicians alike.  With a focus on jazz, James Jared Taylor co-lead his own groups- The Perdido Trio and the Alloy Ensmeble.  He has played with the following:  The Robert Holts Orchestra, The Red Apple Orchestra, The Valley Winds Swing Band, The United Swing Band, The Ted Herman Big Band, The Tim Miller Quartet, and he was the guitarist for the Second Hand Jazz Band’s monthly performances for the Speakeasy at the Merc in Temecula, California.  He has also played in pit orchestras for the musicals "Seussical" and "Bonnie and Clyde" under the baton of Scott Merrin.  James recently moved to Eugene, Oregon where he is playing with various ensembles.  You can find him sitting-in at various jam sessions in the Eugene/Springfield area.  
 
James Jared Taylor studied jazz guitar with Doug MacDonald and the late Joe Diorio.  He started his guitar playing by studying classical guitar at the Musical Arts Center in Cincinnati, Ohio in the late seventies.  He attended the Stanford Jazz Workshop under the instruction of guitarist Peter Bernstein, saxophonist Eric Alexander, drummer Jimmy Cobb, and saxophonist Dr. Michael Zilber.  During the summer of 2025, he attended the Oregon Jazz Workshop under the direction of Joe Manis and George Colligan.  He also was a part of the Menifee Jazz Ensemble at Mt. San Jacinto College under the direction of drummer/ percussionist Dr. Jeremy Brown and trumpeter Mike Rocha.  He plays Benedetto, Gibson, Epiphone guitars and uses Henriksen and Fender amplifiers.
